Individual Visit

 

To the individual visit are offered a very didactic display compossed by an ample series of panels that they contain text, graphics and pictures designed to make more understanding the contents and thematic of the Museum. Completing the display the user has avaliable printed information at the starts of each thematic block that  agroups the basic characteristics of each period of our oldest past.

Aso it is avaliable for the Museum visitors a Visits-Manual, that they can to ask for it in the Museum porter's office, where all the contents of the exhibition are collected in a bilingual edition.

Soon the visitis will can use  a system of Audio-guides in several languages, and one informatics Information Point about the contents and activities of the Museum.

Educative Program

 

The thematic surrounds to the own one of the permanent exhibition of the Museum, the Prehistory and the Antique History of the Peninsular Northwest. Here we collect in a didactic way the evolution of the societies, technologies,  and of the artistic manifestations in these chronological space; offering a linear discurse that presents the differential characteristics of each thematic block, and the lasting elements and traditions.

 

Block 0. Introduction - Chronology - Climatic and faunal changes - Archaeology as science

Block 1. Flacking Stone Age - Hominidzation - Palaeolithic - Epipalaeolithic - Mesolithic

Block 2. Polished Stone Age - Neolithic - Megalithism

Block 3. Bronze Age - Calcolithic - Bronze Age

Block 4. Iron Age - Castrexo World

Block 5. Roman Time - Roman Hispania - Roman Gallaecia

 

Transversely are offered contents linked to Nature Sciencies, like the presence of extinct faunas that personifies the climatic and environmental changes happened in our past, and the different ways of exploitation and manipulation of the landscape practised by our ancestors. This way, mantaining thematic blocks it´s possible to open the doors to new didactic unities to present new points of view or the needs of other users.

The General Objectives of the Educative Program are centered in to foment the understanding of the present discovering the importance of the past, interpreting the facts and the different realities, and stablishing different relations according to the changes occurred; to analize the human relationship with the environment in the past; to identify and to localize in the time and space the outstanding processes and events of the Prehistory and Antique History of Galicia; understand the differences and similarities of our Historic Inheritance in relation to other places of Spain, and to asume the responsability that the conservation of the Historic Inheritance supposes, and their appreciation like resource for the individual or collective enrichment. With these objectives will be promoted  Attitudes of interest, curiosity and taste for know aspects from past times; valuation of the progess of humans, as consecuence of him historic evolution; valuation of the relation of the humanity with the environment in the time, from a starting process of adaptation and respect, to processes of transformation and destructions; and respect for the Historic Inheritance and valuation of itself as font of information about our ancestors, and as configurator element of our identity.

The Procedures, in the same way as attitudes and objectives, have got a specific treatment according to the different Educative Unities, related with the especific curriculum. We stablish as general procedures the seeing  of a specific multimedia presentation for each educative unity attending to his specific contents, guided visit to the permanent exhibition of the Museum, and the work with the exercices of the respective unity. These basic procedure have a variable duration for each unity, oscillating between the 60 and the 90 minutes.

 

     

 

The Educative Unities adapts to each educative level and to the specific subjects. For a better exploitation of the activities, the unities centre in some or in other blocks with larger or minor intensity. It´s not our purpose to repeat the same discurse and thematic in all unities; in the first unities we centre in the general aspects of the Palaeolithic, Neolithic and Castrexo World, while that in other ones we attend in a more intensive way to the Castrexo World and to the Roman Time.

Unity 4. Social Sciences, Geography and History. 1st E.S.O. Blocks: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Unity 5. Classic Culture. 2st Cycle E.S.O. Blocks: 0, 4 and 5.

Unity 6. History. 2st B.A.C. Blocks: 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Unity 7. History of Art. 2st B.A.C. Blocks: 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Unity 8. Classic languages. B.A.C. Blocks: 0, 4 and 5.

Unity 9. Philosophy. 1st B.A.C. Blocks: 0, 1, 2 ,3 ,4 and 5.

 

A Teachers Manual exists, and it is conceived like a text of help to the preparation of students to the Museo de Prehistoria e Arqueoloxía de Vilalba, in this manual are offerent to the teachers the needed contents to provide a context for the material rest presented in the permanent exhibition; the thematic is fitted from the arrival of the humanity to our land, until the time of the Roman domination. Following with the philosophy of the display, better than centering in the archaeological rest, a preferred attention is gave to the ways of life of human groups and to their evolution; the objective is not the seeing of pieces and objects, but the historic knowledge of these peoples and the approximation to the changes and survivals that happen in so long chronological space. The Educative Program are shaped by a main body that groups a specific multimedia presentation for each unity, the guided visit and the work in the hall with the respective exercices. We also put avaliable for student groups a series or works, guided archaeological routes and other activities. So, joinning the procedures that form part of the program, the stay of the groups can to oscillate between one hour and the complete journey. The nine unities designed are related with the different curriculums of the not universitary studies, in this Manual the contents follow the diagram of the bocks of the exhibition. The concepts of each block are not  in a hierarchical structure in the text for the teachers can have  avaliable an ample information to adapt it to the characteristics of each group, at the end of the thematic blocks the particular concepts for each unity are related.

Like Complementary Activities we present a series of works, with a duration of 90 minutes, a route for sites of the council of 2,5 hoours of duration and a series of monographic exercices.

The Works have like objective that the students can to approach to the past by plays and hand works; in spite of being mainly practic activities, they go accompanied with explanations to provide a context for each action:

The Archaeological Route designed consists in a guided visit to archaeological sites from Vilalba. a rock-shelter of the upper Palaeolithic, two tumulus with anta inside, one menhir (Pedrachantada of O Carrizo) and the Castro of Gondaisque.

 

Also are avaliable to school collective a series of Monographic Exercices to work in the stay in the Museum. In these ones, are treated with certain profundity concrete themes in that can be possible to integrate contents of several thematic blocks, or themes that because its transcendence could need a special attention. These are some of the avaliable ones.

Soon will be avaliable a program where the families can to do the visit to the Museum, operating the fathers as son´s guides, for it they have avaliable a notebook and the respective exercices.
